Some 240 students from Belait and Tutong districts of Zone C attended a two-day programme on the Peers Guidance Group (PRS) basic course.

Students were trained to positively deal, nurture and offer an ear and support to peers who require help in dealing with personal problems.

The course was held at PJN Pg Haji Abu Bakar Secondary School in Kampong Pandan, Kuala Belait.

The PRS course, an annual self-development oriented support programme, carries the theme 'Youth towards maturity'.

A school teacher said the programme would assist the students to beat their way through adulthood filled with challenges.

He said the presence of peer support among students can help each other in dealing with personal problems "This is beneficial as they can deal with the problems positively and effectively so they would not lose track," he added.

The course aims to instil confidence and pure-values among the peers support students.
A student noted the course a life-long lesson for them and an initial step to devote themselves to their peers. Every PRS student will receive a certificate to acknowledge participation.
