The 'A-Team' from SM PJN Pg Haji Abu Bakar in Kg Pandan scored the highest points (80.2%) in the preliminary round of the Anti-Drugs Action Group contest for secondary schools and colleges in Brunei.

The victory means that the 'A-team' has moved into the finals, together with four other teams from SM Muda Hashim Tutong, Sekolah Tinggi Perempuan Raja Isteri, SM Pg Isteri Hjh Mariam Serasa and SM Sharif Ali.

Fourteen schools contested in the preliminary round, which played out at SM Masin.
Organised by the Counselling and Career Section, Department of Schools, Ministry of Education, the contest is held to support the anti-drug awareness campaign by focusing on youths and school students.

The day saw teams presenting their analysis, research and video clips to the four judges, who are officers from the Narcotics Control Bureau, Counselling and Career Department and Civil Service Department.

When the A-Team took the stage, they informed the judges that 20 programmes and activities have been lined-up for the campaign, while 16 activities have already been carried out.
The judges later gave a thumbs-up to the A-Team for their successful organising of Anti-Tobacco Day on June 1, which was launched at the school and involved all students from the Anti-Drugs campaign.

Also given the nod was the uniqueness of the 'Creative Bag' programme, where students wrote anti-drugs slogans on recycling bags to promote awareness during the 'Green Day' celebration at the school.

Another upcoming programme by the A-Team will be held at Sekolah Tunas Jaya PGGMB, where they will hold activities with Year I students, enlightening them on the dangers of drug misuse.
